Ottawa, Canada – September 13, 2025 –
Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) has placed Prime Minister Mark Carney and his Cabinet on official notice after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) offered witness protection to Inderjeet Singh Gosal, the Canadian Coordinator of the Khalistan Referendum and close associate of Shaheed Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was assassinated in Surrey on June 18, 2023.
According to SFJ, Gosal has been the target of multiple assassination attempts linked to India’s covert intelligence agency, R&AW. These threats include:
A drive-by shooting at Gosal’s Brampton residence in February 2024.
Several “Duty to Warn” alerts from Canadian authorities about credible threats to his life.
The RCMP’s September 10, 2025 witness protection offer, confirming the severity of the danger.
Gosal revealed that Canadian law enforcement directly warned him that “hitmen are here and they’re ready to take me out,” adding that the threat originated from the Indian government.
Despite these warnings, Gosal has rejected witness protection, vowing to continue the Khalistan Referendum campaign:
> “I do acknowledge that Canadian law enforcement offered to protect my life from the Indian government, but I have refused witness protection,” Gosal declared.
“As Coordinator of the Khalistan Referendum, I will face the bullet rather than go into hiding. The next Referendum voting is in Ottawa on November 23, and I will ensure Members of Parliament understand India’s open challenge to Canada’s sovereignty.”
Growing Pattern of Threats
Global News reports that Gosal is not alone — other members of Canada’s Sikh community have also received new or renewed duty-to-warn alerts, indicating that threats from Indian intelligence networks remain active in Canada.
Canadian officials, including CSIS and the RCMP, have declined to comment on individual cases, citing the sensitivity of ongoing investigations.
Sikhs Demands
Following the latest warnings, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) has formally demanded that Prime Minister Carney and his Cabinet:
Publicly acknowledge India’s ongoing assassination plots against Canadian citizens.
Expel remaining Indian diplomats suspected of coordinating with R&AW.
Provide greater protection for Khalistan Referendum organizers and voters.
Strengthen Canada’s duty-to-warn system so individuals under threat are not left “on their own.”
Diplomatic Tensions
The threats come as Prime Minister Carney seeks to repair ties with New Delhi, recently reinstating Canada’s High Commissioner to India after a recall. However, SFJ argues that India’s continued use of foreign interference and targeted violence undermines Canadian sovereignty.
New Delhi has denied the accusations, dismissing claims of involvement in overseas violence.
Referendum Vote Approaches
The Khalistan Referendum, organized globally by Sikhs For Justice, has become a flashpoint between Canada and India, particularly after Nijjar’s assassination in 2023 — a killing that former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said was linked to “credible allegations of Indian state involvement.”
With the Ottawa Referendum vote scheduled for November 23, 2025, Inderjeet Singh Gosal’s defiance has placed renewed spotlight on the growing confrontation between Canada’s Sikh community and the Indian government.
